17 students and a woman kidnapped in Sokoto state, Nigeria, rescued by the army with no ransom paid.

Nigeria's army has rescued 17 students and a woman who were kidnapped in Sokoto state two weeks ago. The students were taken from Tsangaya school in a dawn raid on March 9. The attack occurred two days after another mass abduction of schoolchildren in Kaduna, also in Nigeria's north. No ransom was paid during the rescue operation, as the school owner and parents of the students were not contacted about any payment.
