A former Australian Taxation Office (ATO) employee, Wenfeng Wei, has been sentenced to five years in jail for accepting bribes to reduce tax debts. This is the first criminal prosecution linked to the National Anti-Corruption Commission, which was established last year. Wei pleaded guilty to five charges, including three counts of unauthorised data access and modification, and was found to have accepted a $150,000 bribe to reduce personal and business tax debts over $6 million.
