2019 stabbing murder retrial begins for American men Elder and Natale-Hjort in Italy.
A new trial has begun for two American men, Finnegan Lee Elder and Gabriel Natale-Hjort, who were initially convicted of murder in the 2019 stabbing of Italian police officer Mario Cerciello Rega. Italy's highest court threw out their original convictions, stating that it hadn't been proven they knew they were dealing with police officers. The retrial is expected to conclude by the summer.
