78 community projects across Ireland receive €376,000 in biodiversity grants to support endangered wildlife, with corncrakes on the Aran Islands and sand martins in the midlands among the species to benefit. The Community Foundation Ireland and the National Parks and Wildlife Service have supported action plans to protect local plants and wildlife, with funding also supporting projects in urban areas.
