Ireland launches €25m Breeding Waders EIP project to protect vulnerable bird populations in Shannon Callows region.
Ireland has launched a €25m project, the Breeding Waders EIP, to protect its most vulnerable group of birds. Funded jointly by the National Parks and Wildlife Service and the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine, the initiative aims to support population recovery through wider landscape management and policy development in the Shannon Callows region. Populations of breeding waders have declined by as much as 98% in recent decades.
