A kayaker in his 30s was rescued from Budgewoi Lake on March 1 after struggling for nearly an hour in rough waters with gusting winds of 25 knots. Marine Rescue Tuggerah Lakes dispatched a vessel, with the Westpac helicopter providing aerial support. The man, wearing a safety jacket, was uninjured. Marine Rescue warned recreational boaters and paddlers to check conditions before heading out.
