A WW2 device discovered in Derby's River Derwent led to a cordon, street closure, and controlled explosion by the EOD team.
A suspected WW2 device was found in Derby's River Derwent, resulting in a 100m cordon and temporary closure of Derwent Street and Exeter Bridge. The Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team conducted a controlled explosion of the device, and the cordon was lifted after the incident. This follows a similar situation in Plymouth where over 10,000 people were evacuated due to an unexploded WW2 device that was safely detonated in the ocean.
