Clark County Commission approved 84 new crossing guards for middle schools, responding to a 25% rise in school-related accidents involving students hit by vehicles. The guards will be hired and placed within 60 days, in addition to the $11 million spent on crossing guards at elementary schools, as part of the effort to enhance student safety. The decision followed parent and advocacy group pressure and comes after several children were struck by cars near their campuses.
