Coast Mountain Bus Co. & CUPE 4500 union accept mediator's recommendations, averting 72-hour Metro Vancouver bus strike.

The Coast Mountain Bus Company and the union representing its transit supervisors, CUPE 4500, have accepted a mediator's recommendations, averting a potential Metro Vancouver bus strike. The two sides will sign a memorandum of agreement before the contract ratification process. The union had set a deadline for a tentative deal to be reached or face a 72-hour strike. The terms of the contract have not been disclosed yet, but the union had initially sought a 25% wage increase over three years, while the company offered 13.5%. With the acceptance of the mediator's recommendations, further disruptions to public transportation have been avoided.
