Canadian National Railway workers reject arbitration proposal, maintaining strike mandate.
Canadian National Railway Co. (CN) reports that rail workers have rejected its proposal to enter binding arbitration, escalating the threat of a potential strike. The railway operator had proposed two agreements: one to pay workers hourly wages on a schedule, replacing the traditional pay per mile model; the other aimed at extending parts of the current arrangement. The Teamsters Canada Rail Conference (TCRC) has rejected all offers and the arbitration process, with the strike mandate authorised by 9,300 workers still in place.
