WSU Tri-Cities student workers feeling ‘exploited’ threaten to strike this week.

Over a thousand academic student employees at Washington State University threaten to strike on Wednesday, January 17, if they don't reach a tentative agreement over their first contract. The strike could affect the research and class work at WSU Tri-Cities. The union is seeking higher wages, better health care, tuition wavers, clearer leave policies, and an additional two weeks of paid parental leave. If the two parties don't come to an agreement, a systemwide strike might occur in California State University, where faculty members are demanding higher pay, manageable workloads, and better parental leave.
