Ontario college faculty strike begins amid disputes over job security and financial constraints.

Ontario's college faculty, represented by the OPSEU, are in a legal strike position starting Saturday, after failing to reach an agreement with the College Employer Council in previous mediations. The union, worried about job security and working conditions, represents 15,000 faculty members. The Council argues the union's demands are unreasonable given the financial strain on colleges, partly due to a 50% drop in international student enrollment. Both sides will meet again for mediation on January 6 and 7.
