Bear that attacked man in Pennsylvania tested positive for rabies, prompting wildlife alert.

A black bear that attacked Andrew Neirer in Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania, on January 19th tested positive for rabies. Neirer was walking near a store when the bear approached him; a neighbor intervened and fatally shot the bear. The Pennsylvania Game Commission notes that while black bears are not typically aggressive, rabies can cause unusual behavior. They advise reporting any abnormal wildlife activity by calling 833-PGC-WILD.
