In Fort Severn First Nation, Ontario, a man was seriously injured protecting his wife from a polar bear attack early morning while looking for their dogs. The bear attacked after lunging at the woman; the husband jumped on the bear to save her, suffering injuries to his arms and legs. A neighbor shot and killed the bear, which died later in a nearby wooded area. The man is expected to recover, and police patrolled the area to ensure no other bears were present.
