Soma & Sons, an Auckland samosa seller, was fined $16,500 for food safety recordkeeping failures.

An Auckland samosa seller, Soma & Sons Ltd (trading as Tasty Foods), and its manager Bhavesh Soma were fined $16,500 for failing to maintain food safety records, including cooking and cooling temperatures, on four occasions between 2020 and 2022. The company was fined $13,500 and Soma $3,000 for providing false information to a food safety officer. Despite no illnesses reported, New Zealand Food Safety stressed the importance of proper record-keeping for ensuring food safety.
