The Jewish community in Syria, now numbering only nine people, can visit the partially destroyed Eliyahu Hanavi synagogue in Damascus for the first time since the country's 13-year civil war. Despite facing challenges like finding kosher food, the community head Bakhour Chamntoub has received global offers to help rebuild the ancient site, which dates back 720 years. The synagogue, one of the world's oldest, had its walls and roofs collapse during the conflict.
