Three critically endangered North Atlantic right whales have been found entangled in fishing gear off the East Coast.

Three North Atlantic right whales, a critically endangered species with fewer than 400 remaining, have been spotted entangled in fishing gear off the East Coast within a week. Two were found near Nantucket, Massachusetts, and one off North Carolina's Outer Banks, a juvenile male likely to die from severe entanglement injuries. Conservationists call for new protections as the population has dropped by about 25% since 2010.
