Arizona's AG sues Saudi firm for over-pumping groundwater, harming local water supplies and land.

Arizona's Attorney General, Kris Mayes, has filed a lawsuit against Saudi Arabian agribusiness Fondomonte, accusing it of violating public nuisance laws by excessively pumping groundwater in La Paz County. The lawsuit claims the company's actions have depleted local water supplies, dried up wells, and caused the ground to sink. Since 2014, Fondomonte has extracted significant amounts of water to grow alfalfa for export. The state seeks to stop the excessive pumping and establish an abatement fund.
