Scientists map solar proton energy spectrum near Mars, aiding future exploration.

Scientists from China and Germany have created the first complete energy spectrum of solar high-energy protons during a solar event near Mars, published in Geophysical Research Letters. Mars, lacking a protective magnetic field and having a thin atmosphere, is vulnerable to high-energy particles. This study uses data from China's Tianwen-1 orbiter and NASA's spacecraft and rover to understand the radiation environment, crucial for future Mars exploration missions.
