Michigan State student develops model to predict charged particle acceleration, aiding solar storm research.

Michigan State University student Thomas Do has created a new model to predict how charged particles accelerate under various conditions, which could improve understanding of solar storms and their effects on space technology. This model builds on a 2021 model by Federico Fraschetti and was tested against data from NASA’s Parker Solar Probe, showing strong agreement. The model could also be applied to other space research involving charged particles.
