Orlando firefighters demand more staff and stations to tackle response time issues amid city growth.

The Orlando Professional Firefighters Union is pressing for more firefighters and stations, citing the city's population growth and current staffing shortages as reasons for increased response times. The union claims no new firefighters have been hired in seven to eight years and no new stations have been built since 2008. In response, the city plans to build four new stations and hire 29 new firefighters starting in October 2024.
