Hyderabad plans new 7.5 km metro line in Old City, starting Jan 2025, with 54 stations.

Hyderabad's Metro Rail Phase 2, set to start in January 2025, will extend 7.5 km through the Old City, from MGBS to Chandrayangutta. The project, led by Hyderabad Airport Metro Limited (HAML), involves around 1,100 property acquisitions. The second phase includes 54 stations and aims to transport 800,000 passengers daily. The Telangana government plans to invest about ₹1,500-2,000 crore annually, with the Central government providing ₹4,230 crore. HAML seeks to minimize disruption to the Old City's 106 religious and heritage sites.
