Federal jury awards $42 million to three Abu Ghraib detainees, finds CACI International liable for abuse.

A federal jury has awarded $42 million to three former Abu Ghraib detainees, each receiving $3 million in compensatory damages and $11 million in punitive damages. The Virginia-based military contractor, CACI International, was found liable for the abuse, which included beatings, sexual abuse, and forced nudity. The lawsuit, filed in 2008, faced numerous legal delays. CACI denies liability and plans to appeal the verdict.
