In Kolkata, sisters preparing for the Bhai Phota (Bhai Dooj) festival are facing difficulties due to soaring prices of food items. Hilsa fish is priced at Rs 1,800 to Rs 2,000 per kg, while Bhetki fish costs Rs 600 to Rs 650 per kg. Mutton has also risen to Rs 850 per kg, along with increases in the costs of potatoes, peas, green chilies, and tomatoes. These price hikes may force some families to change their festive menus.
