In May, the cost of a vegetarian thali increased by 9% to Rs 27.8 due to higher prices of vegetables such as onion, tomato, and potato, according to Crisil's monthly indicator of food plate cost, "The Roti Rice Rate." The non-vegetarian thali's cost fell by 1% month-on-month and 7% year-on-year to Rs 55.9. The increase in vegetable prices, particularly tomatoes, potatoes, and onions, was attributed to lower arrivals and crop damage.
