11% rise in vegetarian thali price in India due to increased vegetable costs, mainly onions, potatoes, and tomatoes.

In September, the cost of a vegetarian thali in India rose by 11% from the previous year, driven by significant increases in vegetable prices, particularly onions (53%), potatoes (50%), and tomatoes (18%). This rise is partly attributed to lower market arrivals and adverse weather. Conversely, the non-vegetarian thali price fell by 2%, mainly due to a 13% drop in broiler chicken prices. Overall, cooking gas prices decreased, mitigating further cost increases.
