A Pou Whenua honoring Te Ririo was blessed at Tongariro Alpine Crossing to educate visitors.

On November 1, a Pou Whenua was blessed at the Mangatepopo entrance of the Tongariro Alpine Crossing in New Zealand. This carved pole represents Te Ririo, a key figure in Ngāti Hikairo ki Tongariro's history, and aims to educate visitors about the sacred landscape. Tongariro National Park, recognized for its dual World Heritage status, has enhanced visitor management with a free booking system and Manaaki Rangers. A similar installation will be added at Ketetahi soon.
