New Zealand's Conservation Minister granted a 10-year concession to Pure Tūroa Limited to operate Tūroa ski-field, replacing Ruapehu Alpine Lifts' concession.
New Zealand's Conservation Minister Tama Potaka granted a 10-year concession to Pure Tūroa Limited (PTL) to operate the Tūroa ski-field within Tongariro National Park. This decision ensures the 2024 ski season and secures future operations. The concession includes provisions for Treaty settlement negotiations, protection of iwi and hapū interests, and monitoring by the Department of Conservation. PTL's concession replaces the previous one held by Ruapehu Alpine Lifts (RAL), whose concession will be surrendered. RAL's receivers will continue managing the Whakapapa ski-field.
