The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) has alerted anglers to monitor for Sandy Flesh disease in walleye, following its detection in Bull Shoals Lake, Arkansas. This degenerative muscle disease primarily affects mature walleye and is not harmful to humans. Anglers are advised against consuming infected fish, which show no external signs but appear altered when filleted. Infected fish should be reported to MDC and disposed of properly, not returned to waterways.
