2 endangered green sea turtles, Brooke and Dawn, were released into the ocean after rehabilitation at Coffs Coast Wildlife Sanctuary.

On October 8, two endangered green sea turtles, Brooke and Dawn, were released into the ocean at Town Beach in Port Macquarie after months of rehabilitation at Coffs Coast Wildlife Sanctuary. Brooke was rescued from fishing line entanglement, while Dawn suffered from float syndrome. The event drew a large crowd, and sanctuary managing director Tiga Cross called the release "heartwarming." The sanctuary rescues about 200 turtles yearly and currently cares for 26.
