Myanmar's military junta has invited armed opposition groups to cease hostilities and engage in peace talks after suffering significant battlefield losses over three and a half years of conflict. This offer follows the junta's struggles against ethnic minority forces and pro-democracy groups since seizing power in 2021. The invitation also coincides with the aftermath of Typhoon Yagi, which resulted in substantial humanitarian crises. However, many opposition groups have rejected the proposal.
