Myanmar's Three Brotherhood Alliance extends ceasefire with junta in Shan state, after seizing territory along a strategic highway to China.

Myanmar's armed alliance extends ceasefire with junta in Shan state following pressure from China. The ceasefire was initially agreed on July 14-18 and has now been extended to July 31 after the alliance's fighters seized territory from the military along a strategic highway to China. The area has been in conflict since late June when the Three Brotherhood Alliance, an ethnic minority armed group alliance, began a renewed offensive against junta troops along the road to China's Yunnan province.
