Astronomers found the longest black hole jets, Porphyrion, 23 million light-years long, using LOFAR, impacting universe structure and galaxy formation.

Astronomers have identified the longest black hole jets to date, named Porphyrion, extending 23 million light-years from a supermassive black hole located 7.5 billion light-years away. Discovered using the LOFAR radio telescope, these jets are about 140 times larger than the Milky Way and emit energy equivalent to trillions of suns. Their findings, published in Nature, suggest these jets may significantly influence the universe's structure and galaxy formation.
