Malawi has spent over K4 billion ($5.2 million) on a stalled 20-kilometer road project in Rumphi since 2018, with costs soaring from an initial K5.1 billion to K29.9 billion. Three contractors previously hired abandoned the project after receiving payments. The fourth contractor, Plem Construction Limited, has been tasked with completing the work at a cost of K24 billion, raising concerns about potential corruption and financial mismanagement.
