Kevin Michael Alstrup, a former U.S. State Department diplomatic security officer, has pleaded guilty to participating in the January 6, 2021, Capitol riot. He entered the Capitol after rioters forced open the doors and is charged with disorderly conduct and parading, both misdemeanors carrying a maximum six-month sentence. Alstrup will be sentenced on February 12. He was identified by the FBI due to his familiarity with security protocols. Over 1,500 individuals face similar charges related to the riot.
