U.S. Army soldier Alexander Cain Poplin was arrested in Hawaii for assaulting a police officer with a flagpole during the January 6, 2021 Capitol riot. Identified through a photograph and a tip about his Facebook post, Poplin faces five charges, including felony counts for interfering with police. Nearly 1,500 individuals have been charged in connection with the riot, which resulted in injuries to about 140 officers.
