Michael Sparks, the first person to breach the US Capitol during the January 6th insurrection, has been sentenced to over four years in prison. Sparks was found guilty on charges of obstructing an official proceeding, civil disorder, and several misdemeanors related to his presence in the Capitol building. He entered the building through a broken window and joined other rioters in chasing a police officer. This marks the first time a January 6th rioter who breached the Capitol has been sentenced.
