A Seattle jury awarded $6 million to the family of Summer Taylor, a Black Lives Matter protester killed by a wrong-way driver on Interstate 5 in July 2020. The jury found the driver, Dawit Kelete, responsible but ruled that the state of Washington was not negligent. Kelete was sentenced to 6.5 years in prison for his actions.
