18-24-year-old NEET rate at 16% in US due to job barriers and limited opportunities, per St. Louis Fed report.

16% of US 18-24-year-olds are "NEETs" (Not in Employment, Education, or Training) due to weak job networks, college degree requirements, limited transportation, and limited childcare access, according to a St. Louis Fed report. The youth unemployment rate reached 9.1%, with 11.2% of 15-24-year-olds being considered NEETs in 2023. A combination of talent hoarding, reduced job openings, and limited entry-level opportunities has led to a rise in "new unemployables," highly qualified individuals struggling to find jobs.
