Vulnerable thresher shark stranded on Rockaway Beach, NYC, was rescued by beachgoers and returned to ocean.
A thresher shark, a vulnerable species, was found stranded on Rockaway Beach in Queens, NYC on Monday. Beachgoers captured the shark flopping in the sand before two men and a woman jumped in to help, guiding it back to the ocean by holding its fin and steering it. The shark eventually swam to deeper water at the end of the jetty, away from the shore.
