8-foot Pacific sleeper shark found dead on BC beach; cause of death undetermined.
A rare Pacific sleeper shark, around 8 feet long, was found washed up dead on a beach in Campbell River, British Columbia. It is unusual for this species of shark to be discovered washed ashore. A DFO scientist could not determine the cause of death but fisheries staff on site speculated the visible wounds were likely caused by scavengers after the shark had died.
