3 divers swim with a juvenile bluntnose sixgill shark in Howe Sound near Vancouver, BC.

Three divers, including marine biologist Mitchell Casey Hewitt, had a rare and memorable encounter with a juvenile bluntnose sixgill shark in Howe Sound near Vancouver, British Columbia. The divers, who were diving 60 feet into the water, encountered the 8-9 feet long shark and swam with it for 10 minutes. Juvenile bluntnose six-gill sharks are known to swim in shallow waters and their numbers increase during summer months. The divers hope their experience will inspire others to explore the marine life just 15 minutes from the city.
