30-year-old Mooresville man, Michael Thomas Hadzicki, charged with stealing artifacts from Fort Dobbs State Historic Site using a metal detector. He is held on a $5,000 bond, facing five counts of felony theft or destruction of property of public libraries or museums and three counts of misdemeanor first-degree trespass. The suspect admitted to trespassing and unearthing artifacts buried since the fort's establishment in the 1750s.
