Pakistan's State Bank plans to replace existing currency notes with plastic ones for enhanced security and design. Governor Jameel Ahmad informed the Senate Standing Committee on Finance that the bank will implement the change by the end of December, including the Rs5,000 note in the new design series. The plastic currency introduction is to combat counterfeiting, durability, and currency smuggling concerns.
