In July, low-cost airlines Ryanair and Wizz Air faced operational disruptions due to air traffic control delays and a global technology outage, leading to 650 flight cancellations by Ryanair and affecting 1% of Wizz Air's flights. Ryanair carried 20.2 million passengers, a 8% increase year-on-year, while Wizz Air transported 5.9 million passengers, a 1.4% decrease from the previous year. Both airlines attributed the disruptions to staff shortages, equipment issues, and IT system failures.
