A man has been charged after breaking into a country parish in Victoria, waking a priest, and demanding money from the church safe. The 55-year-old suspect entered the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Ararat at 11 pm on July 17 and forced Reverend Andrew Hayes to open the parish safe before fleeing with $1000. The priest was not physically harmed. Police launched a manhunt and called for public assistance to identify a hooded man seen on CCTV footage outside the church.
