On Monday, an armed man experiencing a mental health crisis entered the Holy Ghost Temple church in Council Bluffs, prompting police response. With no services in progress, parishioners evacuated safely. Police established a perimeter, advised nearby residents to shelter in place, and negotiated with the man for about an hour before he surrendered. He was taken to the hospital for evaluation and will face charges for discharging a firearm and disorderly conduct.
