The National Weather Service has upgraded the tornado that struck Elkhorn, Bennington, and Blair in Nebraska on April 26 from an EF-3 to an EF-4. The upgrade is based on a re-evaluation of the damage, forensic analysis, and new high-resolution overhead photography taken after the tornado. The tornado is now estimated to have had peak wind speeds of 170 mph, up from the initial estimate of 165 mph.
