9 storm chaser scientists intercepted a rare 'intercept' of a deadly EF4 tornado in southern Iowa on May 21, reaching speeds up to 300 mph. Using two mobile radar devices, they collected data on the tornado's dynamics, providing valuable insights into tornado formation, structure, wind speeds, and factors that can cause intensity changes. This marks only the third time scientists have calculated wind speeds above 300 mph within a tornado.
