A stray kitten named Mavis was rescued from a car engine at Mavis Tire and Brakes in Dedham, after a mechanic found the 9-week-old feline hiding in the vehicle's engine compartment. The kitten was brought to the Animal Rescue League of Boston, cleaned, and placed in foster care until old enough for adoption. Mavis had no injuries and will be an indoor-only cat to avoid similar incidents.
